Day 2: Bar Modeling and Grade-Specific Planning

  • Heuristics and Bar Modeling:

    • Using step-by-step visual models to solve complex problems.

    • Selected problems from the curriculum for hands-on practice.

2. Grade-Level Lesson Planning (Major Focus of the Day)

  • Identifying Challenges at Each Grade Level: Addressing common difficulties students face.

  • Key Concepts Covered by Grade: Ensuring instructional alignment and scaffolding concepts appropriately.

  • Preparing for Incoming Students: Strategies to bridge learning gaps and set expectations.

  • Critical Lessons: Identifying the most impactful lessons that provide a strong mathematical foundation.
